Corporate Electrical Engineer – Capital Projects (Controls/PLC)
Location: On-Site | Appleton & Green Bay, WI
Our client is a global, sustainability-focused manufacturer that delivers innovative flexible-packaging solutions to leading consumer and healthcare brands. They are expanding their Wisconsin footprint and need a hands-on electrical engineer to drive capital programs that modernize equipment, boost throughput, and elevate plant safety.
The Opportunity
Acting as the electrical and controls subject-matter expert, you will lead $1 M–$20 M multi-site projects from scope definition through commissioning. Your work will directly influence product quality, energy efficiency, and long-term reliability across two flagship operations.

Key Responsibilities
- Own the electrical/controls scope for new equipment installs and major line upgrades—developing budgets, schedules, and risk mitigation plans.
- Design single-line diagrams, panel layouts, and PLC/HMI architectures that comply with NFPA 70E, OSHA, and corporate standards.
- Specify, purchase, and program Allen-Bradley/Siemens PLCs, VFDs, servo drives, and safety systems to achieve OEE, uptime, and energy-use targets.
- Manage vendor RFQs, purchase orders, FAT/SAT activities, and on-time delivery of materials.
- Supervise installation contractors, perform power-up, I/O checkout, and start-up; then train maintenance and production teams.
- Track cap-ex spend, update cash-flow forecasts, and complete post-mortem reports capturing lessons learned for future projects.
- Champion a zero-incident culture by embedding LOTO, arc-flash, and machine-guarding best practices in every project phase.
- Lead or support kaizen events and CI teams to drive process optimization and sustainability initiatives.
Skill Set & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s in electrical engineering, Controls Engineering, or related discipline.
- 3–6 years of experience delivering electrical systems for industrial capital projects—preferably in packaging, paper, or other high-speed manufacturing.
- Proficiency with PLC/HMI programming (Rockwell Studio 5000 or Siemens TIA Portal), MCC design, and power distribution up to 480 V.
- Working knowledge of project-management methodologies, earned-value tracking, and root-cause analysis (8D, Five Why).
- Strong communication and vendor-management skills; ability to translate technical detail to non-engineers.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel 40 % throughout Wisconsin.
