Director of Operation and Sales/Business Development – Commercial Roofing

Hybrid | Florida (statewide travel up to 40%)

A financially backed construction-services group is expanding its commercial roofing platform across Florida. They need a strategic builder who can own both day-to-day operations and relationship-driven business development for low-slope reroof projects. This is a chance to create the playbook, hire the team, and scale a business unit with significant resources and executive support.

Key Objectives

  • Stand up and lead a commercial roofing division from early revenue through profitable multi-market growth.
  • Shape and execute the go-to-market plan for low-slope TPO reroof projects, balancing pricing, subcontractor partnerships, and margin protection.
  • Cultivate new and existing owner, GC, and property-management relationships to build a robust opportunity pipeline.
  • Oversee the full project life-cycle: estimating, contract negotiation, subcontractor selection, project execution, safety, and close-out.
  • Own P&L accountability, using data to decide which opportunities to pursue and which to decline.
  • Recruit, mentor, and develop a high-performing field and office team as volume scales.
  • Drive a culture of safety, quality, and customer satisfaction in every engagement.

What Success Looks Like

  • Year-one target: secure and complete $5–$10 M in profitable reroof work at ≥15 % gross margin.
  • Establish a subcontractor bench in Florida’s major metros, with performance metrics in place.
  • Achieve 50 %+ repeat-business rate from key accounts by the end of year two.
  • Document operating procedures that can be replicated as the division expands across the Southeast.

Ideal Profile

  • 7+ years of leadership experience in commercial low-slope roofing, with combined operations and sales/business-development responsibility.
  • Demonstrated success delivering reroof projects $500 K–$5 M through a subcontractor model.
  • Strong command of job costing, scheduling, and risk-management principles.
  • Existing network of Florida-based commercial roofing subcontractors and material partners.
  • Entrepreneurial leader comfortable building structure, systems, and teams from the ground up.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel in-state up to 40%.

Rewards & Culture

  • Competitive six-figure base salary plus uncapped performance bonus tied to division profitability.
  • Company vehicle allowance, fuel card, and all necessary technology.
  • Medical, dental, vision, and 401(k) with match.
  • High autonomy, direct line of sight to executive leadership, and a clear path to VP/GM as the division scales.
  • Hybrid work model: mix of remote, office, and on-site project visits based on business needs.
