Energy Marshal (Mission Critical)
Location: Remote – Nationwide (Travel Required)
About the Role:
A nationally recognized leader in complex construction is expanding its mission-critical team and hiring an Energy Marshal to champion safety protocols for commissioning and energization projects across high-demand infrastructure builds. This is a critical role embedded within a growing division focused on hyperscale data centers and next-gen facilities, where safety, quality, and precision are non-negotiable.
As the Energy Marshal, you’ll serve as the on-site authority for energy isolation activities and system commissioning from pre-energization through final turnover. This is a high-impact position for a safety-driven expert who thrives in dynamic environments and wants to be part of a team delivering secure, sustainable solutions at scale.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead safety assurance for electrical energization, system commissioning, and lockout/tagout (LOTO) protocols across large-scale projects.
- Coordinate electrical room access and manage permit processes to ensure compliance and minimize risk during energization.
- Audit energy isolation procedures and contribute to continuous improvement of safety processes and standards.
- Act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for energy isolation, providing procedural guidance and oversight throughout the commissioning phase.
- Perform pre-energization inspections and support system quality assurance in line with the commissioning plan.
- Participate in and support daily/weekly high-risk activity and job hazard analysis (JHA) reviews.
- Interpret single-line diagrams and schematics to validate LOTO procedures and system redundancies.
- Maintain the integrity of energy isolation across AC and DC systems in mission-critical environments, including data centers and industrial-scale power systems.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with safety, commissioning, and construction teams to drive compliance and operational excellence.
- Serve as an independent authority empowered to halt unsafe work practices related to energy isolation.
Qualifications:
- 4+ years of experience in safety, commissioning, or energy isolation in a commercial construction or data center setting.
- Deep working knowledge of NFPA 70E safety standards and LOTO best practices.
- Strong background in auditing, inspection, or safety program development.
- Proven ability to read and interpret electrical line drawings, energy distribution systems, and redundancies.
- Effective communicator with ability to translate complex energy procedures to cross-disciplinary teams.
- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Construction Management, Electrical Engineering, or related field preferred, or equivalent work experience.
- NFPA 70E certification required.
Preferred Experience:
- 7+ years of progressive experience in construction safety within mission-critical sectors.
- Expertise in managing multi-energy environments, including AC/DC systems.
- Familiarity with commissioning protocols, ISO standards, and electrical compliance in large-scale infrastructure.
What’s in It for You:
- Work on nationally recognized, high-profile mission-critical infrastructure projects.
- Join a top-tier general contractor known for quality, innovation, and integrity.
- Be part of a supportive culture that empowers safety leaders to make high-stakes decisions.
- Competitive compensation, comprehensive health benefits, retirement savings with match, and generous PTO.
- Career advancement opportunities within a growing and future-focused organization.
