Director of Business Development – Advanced Manufacturing
Location: Remote / U.S.
A nationally ranked concrete and structural contractor is expanding its footprint across high-tech, large-scale manufacturing projects - think giga-factories, semiconductor fabs, next-gen data centers, and life-sciences campuses. We’re searching for a proven business - builder who can translate deep knowledge of concrete design and self-perform construction into value-driven solutions that win early-engagement opportunities. If you thrive on crafting pursuit strategy, speaking the languages of owners, engineers, and GCs alike, and closing nine-figure projects, let’s talk.
Key Responsibilities
- Market & Growth Strategy – Own the national go-to-market plan for advanced manufacturing. Monitor CAPEX forecasts, industry news, and third-party data to convert early intelligence into qualified pursuits while keeping pipeline velocity and backlog targets on track.
- Client & Partner Engagement – Cultivate C-suite and principal-level relationships with owners, developers, EPCs, and A/E partners. Lead discovery sessions that surface program goals, constraints, and success factors, then align our structural-concrete value proposition accordingly.
- Pursuit Leadership – Chair pursuit “war-rooms,” aligning estimating, pre-con, operations, and technical teams to vet risk, schedule, and pricing scenarios before each decision gate.
- Technical Solutioning – Leverage structural engineering fluency to suggest mix optimization, phased sequencing, and constructability tweaks that compress schedules and lower TIC (total installed cost).
- Data-Driven Reporting – Maintain CRM accuracy; analyze win/loss, backlog health, and pipeline trends to inform quarterly forecasts and resource allocation.
Required Background
- 10+ years securing or developing large (> $100 M) industrial / manufacturing construction projects, with a track record positioning self-perform concrete or structural packages.
- Conversational fluency in concrete design (mixes, reinforcing, forming systems) and overall structural engineering - able to “talk shop” with both GCs and structural engineers.
- Proven success in strategic planning, project development, and cross-functional leadership on complex builds.
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil/Structural Engineering, Construction Management, or related discipline; PE license a plus.
- Willingness to travel nationally (~30 %) while operating effectively from a remote home office.
What’s In It For You
- National Impact – Influence the most talked-about manufacturing megaprojects in North America.
- Autonomy & Resources – Lead strategy with executive visibility and the horsepower of a top-tier self-perform contractor behind you.
- Competitive Package – Six-figure base + aggressive incentive plan, full benefits, 401(k), and expense account.
- Growth Path – Clear runway to senior leadership based on results.
