Senior Civil Engineer

A growing and well-established engineering consultancy is seeking a seasoned civil engineer to join their high-performing team and help shape the future of the firm. This is a rare opportunity for a driven professional to step into a strategic leadership path, working alongside firm ownership on a wide array of environmental and infrastructure projects. The ideal candidate is a hands-on project manager and technical expert with a passion for mentorship, community-focused engineering, and long-term leadership development. This person will work closely with executive leadership with a clear runway to lead operations within a few years.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee and direct a wide range of infrastructure projects, including landfill management, sewage systems, earthworks, and flood control initiatives.
- Serve as a client liaison, leading stakeholder coordination, proposal development, and regulatory compliance.
- Guide project teams through design, permitting, plan/spec preparation, and QA/QC processes.
- Oversee project execution from concept through construction documentation and closeout.
- Mentor junior engineers, fostering technical growth and knowledge sharing.
- Collaborate with executive leadership on firm-wide strategy and succession planning.
- Engage in both fieldwork and office-based responsibilities with occasional overnight travel.
Qualifications
- Professional Engineer (PE) licensed in Missouri or eligible via reciprocity within 6 months.
- 10 to 25 years of experience in civil and/or environmental engineering, preferably within consulting.
- Demonstrated experience managing clients, contractors, and multidisciplinary project teams.
- Broad technical background in civil site development, hydrology, stormwater, permitting, and environmental engineering.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with a collaborative leadership style.
- Experience mentoring and developing junior engineering staff.
- Willingness to relocate to the Jefferson City area and participate in on-site work.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
Preferred Background
- Background in compliance approvals, municipal infrastructure development, or eco-environmental advisory services.
- Knowledge of waste disposal systems, stormwater management, geotechnical analysis, or infrastructure development planning.
- Previous experience in a smaller or mid-sized firm, especially one with a collaborative culture.
