Technical Revenue Accounting Systems Manager (Contract)
Location: Remote – Phoenix, AZ
Contract Duration: 6–12 months | Full-time (expect 55–60 hrs during the first close, then ~40 hrs/wk)
Our client is a fast-growing technology innovator scaling its revenue operations to support new product lines and global growth. You will be the hands-on owner of a modern revenue automation stack - keeping month-end on track, mentoring a small team, and driving data integrity from CRM through to the general ledger. If you love turning complex accounting requirements into elegant, automated solutions, this contract offers high visibility and real impact.
What to Expect
- Competitive hourly compensation.
- West-coast hours preferred; extended hours and occasional weekends during the monthly close cycle.
- December 2025 start after standard onboarding and security clearance.
Key Responsibilities
- Steer the daily health and configuration of the cloud-based revenue recognition platform, resolving issues before they affect close deadlines.
- Create and execute the month-end system cutover plan (data loads, reconciliations, tie-outs, sign-offs) to deliver a clean, on-time close.
- Mentor and direct two revenue-systems analysts, setting sprint priorities and reviewing SQL/Excel workbooks for quality.
- Partner with Accounting, FP&A, RevOps, Data Engineering, and IT to translate new product offerings and ASC 606 policies into scalable system rules.
- Build self-service dashboards and automated controls that surface exceptions and materially reduce manual validation time.
- Own and evolve all documentation - process maps, runbooks, data dictionaries, and change logs - to ensure audit readiness.
- Lead defect triage with vendors and internal developers, tracking tickets through release and communicating status to stakeholders.
- Continuously streamline data integrations between CRM, billing, data warehouse, and ERP sub-ledgers to improve data quality.
Required Skills & Experience
- 7+ years progressive Accounting or FP&A experience and 3+ years administering revenue or billing automation tools.
- Deep knowledge of ASC 606 and public-company revenue processes; CPA or Big 4 background strongly preferred.
- Advanced analytics: Power Query/Power Pivot, strong SQL, and Power BI (or similar).
- Proven ability to manage and coach technical talent in a fast-paced close environment.
- Excellent project-management and stakeholder-communication skills across Accounting, Finance, and IT.
Preferred Qualifications
- Exposure to Zuora, Salesforce CPQ, Snowflake, or ERP revenue sub-ledgers.
- Experience with Python or Sigma for data automation.
- Prior work in high-growth SaaS or manufacturing/service mix environments.
