Director of Mission Critical Projects

Location: On-site in either Arizona or Texas

A fast-growing national general contractor is building a new vertical dedicated to mission critical infrastructure and technical facilities - and they’re seeking a dynamic, hands-on leader to drive this effort. As a Director of Mission Critical Projects, you'll help define the strategy, assemble the team, and lead high-stakes builds in healthcare, data center, and other technically complex environments. About the Role

This is a high-impact, highly visible leadership role tasked with overseeing planning, execution, and delivery of mission critical construction projects ranging from $50M to $500M+. The Director will lead multi-disciplinary teams and serve as a strategic client partner from project inception through closeout, ensuring the highest standards of safety, quality, and performance.

You'll be instrumental in expanding a mission-critical practice - recruiting and mentoring talent, developing client relationships, and elevating the firm’s profile in this highly competitive sector.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership

• Spearhead the expansion and credibility of the mission critical vertical through high-quality execution and strategic team building.
• Contribute to winning pursuits by crafting award-worthy org charts and presenting project leadership credentials to top-tier clients.
• Collaborate closely with executive leadership on operational strategy, client engagement, and long-term growth planning.

Project Delivery & Oversight

• Lead multiple concurrent projects with complex MEP, commissioning, and security needs in environments where uptime and precision are critical.
• Drive financial, schedule, and risk management performance across all mission critical engagements.
• Oversee preconstruction through closeout phases and ensure delivery meets or exceeds internal and client expectations.

Client & Stakeholder Engagement

• Act as executive liaison to clients, vendors, and strategic partners, building lasting relationships that result in repeat business.
• Support contract development, negotiation, and conflict resolution at the highest levels.
• Represent the firm in executive presentations, walkthroughs, and milestone meetings.

Team Development

• Recruit, mentor, and retain top-tier project executives, superintendents, and commissioning leaders in AZ, TX, and beyond.
• Foster a collaborative, excellence-driven culture focused on results, safety, and innovation.
• Help build a followable, trust-driven leadership brand that attracts top technical construction talent.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or Architecture (advanced degrees a plus).
• 15+ years of construction management experience with 7+ years in mission critical or healthcare construction.
• Proven leadership on technical projects exceeding $200M in value.
• Deep knowledge of MEP systems, redundancy planning, and commissioning practices.
• Exceptional team-building and executive communication skills.
• Strong preference for experience leading campus-style builds or data center fit-outs.
